Fuzhou, capital city of China's Fujian Province, is going to invest 6.3 billion yuan ($1 billion) on developing its marine economy in 2015, according to an implementation plan released by the local government on March 30.
The plan has called for more efforts on the development of the marine economy and has set out the goal of investing 37.6 billion yuan on constructing major projects that are related to marine economy.
The provincial government mapped out 154 projects, covering the areas of marine engineering equipment, ship building and repairing, marine bio-pharmaceuticals, a marine industrial park and a fishing harbor.
According to the plan, the province should complete or partly complete more than 36 major projects within this year, nine of which are in Fuzhou. In addition, at least three major projects in Fuzhou should start the pre-construction stage.
