The 2015 Xiamen Industry Expo, formerly known as China Xiamen Machinery and Electronics Exhibition, opened at the Xiamen International Conference and Exhibition Center on April 12.

As the first major cross-Straits fair since the China (Fujian) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) was established, the 18-year-old event is one of the largest fairs in the field of machinery and electronics jointly hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronics Products (CCCME), Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association and the Xiamen government.

Xiamen city and the Xiamen Industry Expo will benefit from more business opportunities and the support that the Fujian FTZ grants, said Wang Qiongwen, head of the Xiamen bureau of convention and exhibition affairs, at a press conference about the expo on April 11.

He also pointed out that the new expo will focus on the "Made in China 2015" and "Internet Plus" strategies put forward by Premier Li Keqiang, and try to create a high-end platform for the cross-Straits industrial cooperation.
